Boiler Servicing
You must ensure that your boiler is being serviced at least annually to ensure that it's performing at its best. By doing this, you can stop issues before they become serious and ensure the efficiency is kept high.
You don't want your energy and heating bills increasing because you don't want to pay for a service. Boiler breakdowns are inevitable, though, but it's important to get this seen as soon as possible.
Most boilers will come with a minimum 5-year guarantee, so it's smart to stay on top of the health of your boiler to make sure it lasts that long. There are also more serious issues that can happen that you won't even be aware of.

Your boiler could have a gas leak spilling out into your home and your family without you knowing. If you're performing regular maintenance and servicing, then you'll be able to prevent this.
Getting a regular service can mean you're saving money and not having to get a boiler repair when it could have been avoided. You may believe that your boiler is healthy and doesn't need a service, but this could make an unseen issue irreversible and more expensive.
What Happens During A Boiler Service
Any Gas Safe qualified engineer will perform the same steps whilst performing a boiler service. All of our engineers hold this qualification and will go about servicing your boiler safely to ensure your family and home are kept safe.
The service will begin with a visual inspection. This is will sometimes include a quick cleaning of the boiler and inspection of the internal working parts. Sometimes any issues can be diagnosed from this point, as you're able to tell whether a part is broken or not from looking at it.
The second step is to check and read the in-built control unit, which measures how the boiler is performing. Most boilers are able to record and document how they're performing and note any issues internally. Our engineers are able to work through the checklist of internal systems and make sure they're all working as they should be.
Flue and Combustion releases will be checked next, as the engineer will ensure that the pipework from the boiler to the external of your house is as it should be. There could be blockages along the pipe, and this can cause many issues, so engineers will start here, making sure the pipework is safe.
Next, the boiler's internal components will be cleaned and made sure they're all working at full capacity. This can include the heat exchanger and ignition pins, but also the main burner(s). It's important to inspect each element in detail, as the issue may not have been apparent upon first inspection.
Testing components
Once the internal and external pipework has been checked over, any engineer will then begin working and systemically testing all components within the boiler system. It's important to check:
Pilot burner
Flue effectiveness
Heating controls
Thermostat efficiency
Gas and pressure flow
Safety devices
This isn't the full list of inspections, as we cover a lot, but if you have any questions, then feel free to ask your engineer on the day. They will gladly explain what it is they're doing and how that particular component can affect your boiler efficiency.
After everything has been checked, taken apart, and cleaned, a report will be written if no issues have been noted. This will include important information such as the boiler pressure, which may be needed for the next inspection or service. The engineer won't leave after this, as we want to make sure the boiler is working as it should be. We'll test it out, make sure the central heating clicks on in a timely manner, and that our intrusion hasn't caused any issues.

Annual boiler service

We highly recommend that after your boiler installation, you get a service done 12 months after.
This can then be scheduled for the same time every 12 months unless you notice an issue, and you can get one sooner.
Our Gas Safe registered engineers can easily perform this service for you and put your mind at rest. Give us a call today, and we'll arrange an annual boiler service for you.

Getting this done frequently means you can keep on top of your boiler health and efficiency and keep your warranty in check.
Stopping an issue before it becomes more severe means you can normally save money and save yourself having to get an entire boiler replacement down the line unnecessarily.
On the less severe side of the scale, this simply means your boiler will continue to provide hot water and heat your home and family.
